I'm going about this entirely the wrong way... I need something for a good reference....
Ahh, yes. Good ol' eBay. A quick search (note this link is only good until 1 November 2005) and $20 bucks later, a sacrificial tail light for my project.
Also, grabbed 500 orange LED's while I was poking around eBay. $45 with free shipping. Not bad.
Amount invested in project thus far:
$20 -- paint and spray foam
$20-ish -- Sacrificial Taillight
$45 -- LED's
$85 and change... with nothing to show so far.
Ran on down to Rat Shack and picked up 2 12v voltage regulators and 2 perf boards. -- $12
Had to wait a couple of days for the stuff to come from eBay
